The Hotel Shawandha Lodge on the southern Caribbean coast co-exists with respect for nature. It features spacious bungalows constructed in neo-primitive style with an artistic mixture of wood and ceramics and palm roofs. Each of the bungalows has its own individual character and atmosphere.

Shawandha Lodge sits in the middle of giant Ceiba trees and tropical flowers of endless colours, it offers a very particular feel with the fresh smelling wooden bungalows. Enjoy viewing your natural surroundings from the terrace either lazing in a sofa or hammock. The beautifully decorated bathrooms; work of the French artist Filou Pascal are unmatched in Costa Rica. The restaurant has a French Chef, so you can enjoy a superb French cuisine with a Caribbean touch.

Shawandha Lodge is just a few steps away form a beautiful beach. Languish in the cool shade of the palms, watch exotic birds, fishes, playful animals, and snorkel and dive in the amazing coral reefs, relax on the beach, surf the waves of the Caribbean, or drive to Manzanillo and take a boat to observe the dolphins, or take a guided tour through the tropical forest reservations. You may decide to take an excursion to Cahuita National Park to further observe this unique biodiversity or glide over the coral reefs in a glass bottom boat. Your dreams of galloping on deserted white sand beaches can be fulfilled. Other activities of the area near Shawandha Lodge include river or sea kayaking, visiting a butterfly farm, iguana farm, botanical gardens, bird watching or visiting the local Indian reservations of the Bri Bri natives, or end your days with a relaxing massage in the privacy of your bungalow.

At the Restaurant of Shawandha Lodge you will be transported to France and to the "savoir-faire" of the French tradition in cooking by this "Iron Chef" Françoise Beau, also known as "oui-oui". Enjoy the finest in French Cuisine. Begin with listening to the many tropical sounds, sitting in a comfortable sofa, watching the hummingbirds sipping on the red flowers while enjoying your favourite drink underneath the spectacular "rancho". Followed by the dinner prepared by the chef, enjoying creative tropical flavours with the savoir-faire of the French tradition. For instance, start with a heart of palm and avocado salad, followed by Lobster "a la Normandy" and end with a delicate mousse de mango.
