Costa Rica offers different kinds of white water rafting where the adrenaline shoots to the limit and fascinating Canopy tours from the tops of the trees. Now you can enjoy both activities combined in a single tour.
Discover the natural wonders of Sarapiqui, a large territory located in the northern part of the country, with crystalline rivers, abundant scenic beauty and towns full of hard-working, friendly people.
As we depart from San Jose we cross the Braulio Carrillo National Park (1) arriving at Sarapiqui (2) where both adventure attractions can be enjoyed: the Canopy Tour in the middle of a secondary forest with high altitude trees, followed by lunch, and then Rafting in the waters of the Sarapiqui River.
The Canopy tour lasts one and a half hours as you slide through the forest from ten cables of different lengths and twelve platforms.
Rafting on the Sarapiqui River on class II and class III rapids allows a vibrant scenario for those who wish to enjoy this exciting activity.
The Sarapiquí River, or Rio Sarapiquí, in Costa Rica is a tributary of the San Juan River. The area around the river is mostly lowlands tropical rainforest, with lush vegetation with a large variety of plant, animal and insect life.
Upon arrival to Río Sarapiquí, your friendly and professional guides will outfit you with lifejackets and paddles and give you a safety orientation for the river. You will begin rafting where the Class III trip finishes and continue down to Puerto Viejo. In some parts of the river you will pass green pastures and farmland, and delight in the sight of local children frolicking along shore.
The lower half of the river winds along the borders of the beautiful, protected La Selva Biological Reserve - thick with lush vegetation, towering trees, vines and flowers. Along the riverbank, you'll stop for a luscious buffet picnic lunch prepared by your guides. Then it's back on the river enjoying the peace and quiet of the rainforest, and to watch iguanas, turtles and numerous species of birds.
A group of unexpected rapids combined with slow relaxing stretches along a 9-mile distance will make this an unforgettable experience for birdwatchers and nature lovers alike.
Air-conditioned microbus transportation, naturalist bi-lingual guide, canopy and white water rafting gear, and lunch.
